HEIC to JPG converter
I built this HEIC to JPG converter for the quick job of changing the format of one file or many. Choose or drop your files, and each one is converted on your device.
Your files stay on your device. You can pick several at once.
JPG cannot hold transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white before the file is saved. I save JPG at quality 92 out of 100.
The HEIC decoder is libheif, shipped unchanged under the LGPL. Licence and source
How it works, and what stays on your device
I built this page on the decoder and encoder that your browser already has, so converting HEIC to JPG happens on your device and the files are never uploaded. Nothing is sent anywhere while you convert, and you do not need an account.
Browsers do not open HEIC on their own, so I ship a small HEIC decoder (libheif) with the site. It loads only when you choose a HEIC file and runs in your browser, so the file still never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your files are opened and converted in your browser and never leave your device. I do not receive them, and the page makes no request that carries them.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Choose or drop as many files as you like. They are converted one after another, each with its own status, and a file that fails does not stop the others. Once two or more are done you can download them together as one zip.
What happens to transparent areas?
They become white, because JPG has no transparency. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead.
Does the JPG keep the location of the photo?
No. The JPG is drawn fresh from the decoded picture, so it does not carry the original EXIF data, such as location or camera.
